Executing a will at a hospital....Why?

I recently had my second call in as many weeks inquiring about preparing and executing a will for a client who is in the hospital. There are many more challenges (and expenses) with preparing a will for someone in the hospital, and it reaffirms what estate planning attorneys tell their clients: PLAN IN ADVANCE! A will executed in a hospital will be scrutinized much more thoroughly by the Surrogate's Court than a will which the testator executed at their leisure. Questions of due execution, undue influence, and mental capacity are also raised. So much money, confusion, and heartache can be saved just be speaking to a Queens and Brooklyn estate attorney in advance.
